What’s a modality card?

Modality cards tell you how to ask your question, and sometimes who gets involved. Some modalities ask you to speak your question aloud. Others invite silence. Some give you total freedom. One even lets another player decide your question for you. Just like in real life, the way you ask matters as much as what you're asking.

There are six Modality Cards:

Secret Question: Your question stays private. No one else knows what you asked — not even the Oracle.

Secret and Free: You keep your question secret, and you're allowed to ignore the Category Card too.

Shared Question: You must say your question aloud before drawing your first card. Everyone hears it.

Freedom: You choose whether to keep your question private or make it public. You can also choose whether or not to follow the Category.

Oracle Question: You pick another player to become your Oracle. That person chooses the question for you.

Duo: You say your question out loud and invite another player to join you. You both draw cards for the same question and compare your results.

Each Modality creates a shift in rhythm, energy, or intimacy. It adds surprise and depth to every round. Let the cards decide how you ask and watch what changes.
