What’s a category card?
Before a player asks their question, they draw a Category Card. This card reveals the theme of the question — what part of life it should focus on. It could be about money, love, health, purpose... The Category helps narrow things down and bring clarity to what’s being asked.
This step is especially important when the question is secret. In that case, the Category Card may be the only information the Oracle has to help interpret the answers. It gives the group a shared context and allows the Oracle to guide the reading without knowing the exact words of the question.
For players who don’t know what to ask, the Category Card is a prompt. It comes with a sample question printed directly on the card. You can always ask that one. Or let it inspire your own.
There are 8 Category Cards in the deck:
Wealth and Finances – “Will I ever get rich?”
Family and Home – “Should I move?”
Career and Ambition – “Should I dream bigger?”
Love and Relationships – “Am I open to true love?”
Personal Growth and Self-Discovery – “Should I spend (more) time meditating?”
Adventure and Travel – “Should I book that world tour?”
Health and Well-Being – “Should I take better care of myself?”
Spirituality and Purpose – “Am I aligned with my true path?”
The Oracle doesn’t answer every question the same way. The Category Card makes sure you’re asking the right kind of question in the first place.
